The McCormick Gold Rush Festival has existed since the 1970s as a way to acknowledge and celebrate McCormick’s gold heritage. Over the years, festival planners and facilitators have worked diligently to maintain the integrity of the event while keeping the cost at a minimum. Throughout time, thousands of guests and residents inhabited downtown McCormick during June, July, or September to experience the food, fun, and entertainment offered at Gold Rush. Even during the most challenging economic times of the early 2000s, the Gold Rush Festival continued to exist as a staple event in McCormick.
The last five years have witnessed a number of national events, economic crisis, and natural disasters that thwarted the annual celebration. Despite the residual impact of those challenges – with the latest being the impact of Hurricane Helene – the Gold Rush Festival Committee has plans to revive the fun-filled, family-oriented event that many community members remember from growing up. For those who are new to the community, the plans are to bring back live musical entertainment with a variety of genres, activities for children, and the Gold Rush Parade. Our goal is to return the Gold Rush Festival to its original grandeur!
To honor the past and recognize the current economic status of our community, we are seeking sponsors to support the goal to bring back the excitement of Gold Rush.
